In the summer of 2020, HarvestBeam purchased several federal spectrum licenses in the Citizens Broadband Radio Spectrum (CBRS) band throughout eastern North Carolina. Unlike unlicensed spectrum used by most fixed wireless providers, HarvestBeam made the necessary investments in purchasing licensed spectrum from the Federal Government to provide dedicated fixed wireless broadband access to connect homes, businesses and anchor institutions throughout the entire eastern region. 

Given the connectivity needs of the region, we chose to deploy fixed wireless because it will help connect these communities faster than having to wait for a fiber or cable system to arrive. The level of high-speed broadband connectivity using CBRS spectrum now owned by HarvestBeam will be a first for rural eastern North Carolina.
